SwitchCode by Mohawk Group

Morse Code is the earliest and most widely used forms of electronic communication.  A series of dits and dahs could be used to construct messages that could be sent internationally via telegraph.  Thus, making it the precursor to our current forms of electronic communication.

Prosigns, or shorthand signals, were created and used for brevity, greater speed and accuracy of communication.  They performed much like the text language used by current generations. Today, via text, full sentences can be expressed using a handful of letters and emotion can more easily be conveyed using the appropriate emoji.  This allows us to be more connected than ever before using as little language as possible.

Umpteen is a slang word used to reference the dahs in Morse Code.  It has changed meaning through the years and is now used to reference an infinite number.  We are using it here to reference the infinite possibilities available to today’s students.

The colorful thread up for this collection was created using Morse Code as a creel map.  The following words were used to randomize the thread up and create an organic visual that is stimulating and rooted in positive affirmations.
